A new series of college sports apparel may be released by Fanatics and rapper Travis Scott, making use of various components of its extensive clothing and distribution empire.
The clothes may be created and manufactured by Mitchell &amp, Ness, a division of Fanatics and Scott’s Cactus Jack company. It will be sold on the Fanatics site, at Lids sites that are Fans ‘ own, at Fanatics-owned outlets, in on-campus booksellers operated by Barnes & Noble College, with whom Fanatics and Lids have a long-term operating agreement.
It’s a double-licensor arrangement: Cactus Jack and Mitchell & Ness have agreements with schools, and both will receive a royalty on sales of products. This structure is comparable to NFL collabs that Mitchell & Ness has conducted with Usher’s Fenty company or Fenty.

The Cactus Jack cooperation is built to utilize two big marks of Fans ‘ business—the some connected pieces of its company, and its close ties to athletes, audio stars and other influencers. Michael Rubin, the CEO of Fanatics, keeps a very common image tied to his star relationships, makes court appearances with A-listers, hosts a lavish summers” white party” at his Hamptons residence, and throws an ostentatious Super Bowl group. ( Scott gave a performance at this year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas. )
Mitchell &amp, Ness, the vintage and live clothing brand, is great proxy for both. Fans bought the product in 2022 for$ 250 million, alongside a group of majority buyers that includes Jay- Z, Meek Mill, Lil Baby and the TikTok- popular D’Amelio home, along with NBA stars James Harden, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Many of those donors were now partners with Fans, or Rubin, in other projects. In order to work with the sports themselves, Rubin sold his shares of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils. It made quick use of Fans ‘ licensing agreements to develop its product to new markets, such as the NHL.
A 10- day Grammy Award candidate, Scott formed Cactus Jack Records in 2017. The company has expanded into other regions including philanthropy, games, consumer goods and clothing, including earlier collaborations with Nike, McDonald’s and A Cleaning Ape. The 32-year-old is also expanding his playing options in sports; he recently collaborated with the Houston Astros to host an HBCU college baseball tournament. He was courtside at the Iowa game when Caitlin Clark broke the all-time scoring record.
The Fanatics partnership will feature apparel for 28 different schools, including nine SEC schools ( Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&amp, M, Kentucky, Florida, plus newcomers Oklahoma and Texas ) and seven Big Ten schools ( Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Penn State, plus newcomers Oregon, USC and UCLA ). It also includes four HBCUs ( Southern, Grambling State and North Carolina A&amp, T ).
All those schools have either a local Lids store on campus or a bookstore operated by Barnes &amp, Noble Education ( NYSE: BNED), which in 2020 signed a wide- ranging partnership with a Fanatics/Lids joint venture. Under the deal, the joint venture made a$ 15 million equity investment in Barnes &amp, Noble Education, which has relationships with more than 750 campus bookstores. Lids took over those stores ‘ in-store sports merch operations, and Fanatics took over the e-commerce division of the company.
