The first WNBA regular-season match between the Atlanta Dream and Seattle Storm will take place outside of the United States in August. On August 15, the activity may be played at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
The Storm have no previous homecourt experience, but playing in neighboring Vancouver may offer them a foregone conclusion. Next May during the summer, the group played the Los Angeles Sparks in Edmonton, marking the next WNBA sport played north of the border. The first game played in Canada was in Toronto when the Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky squared off in a training game for 2023.
When The Dream faced Great Britain’s regional women’s basketball team in 2011, The Dream played in the team’s first preseason sport in Europe.
This activity and our year-round wedding efforts are a smile to the extraordinary speed surrounding women’s hockey in Canada, according to director Cathy Engelbert in a declaration.

Canada may have a WNBA company in 2026 when the Toronto Tempo begin play as the team’s 14th group. Kilmer Sports Ventures, which is owned by Oak Leaf Sports &amp, Entertainment chair Larry Tanenbaum, paid$ 50 million for the development staff and plans to build a training facility. The Golden State Valkyries, who may start playing in 2025, may receive the same$ 50 million payment as Joe Lacob did.
Tanenbaum’s company will reportedly perpetrate$ 115 million to the company, and it will be absolutely independent from MLSE, which owns the NBA’s Birds and the NHL’s Maple Leafs.
A fresh company, owned by the Bhathal family, did follow The Tempo in Portland. Lisa Bhathal Merage and Alex Bhathal, who both possess the Portland Thorns in the NWSL and are members of the Golden 1 Center’s ownership group, led the team’s acquisition of Oregon.
At the start of next year, there were four French people in the WNBA—Bridget Carleton, Kia Nurse, Aaliyah Edwards and Laeticia Amihere—and each played for the government’s Olympic team in the Paris Games this history summers.
After the athletes ‘ coalition opted out of the latest CBA in September, the league has also been in discussions with the WNBPA about a new collective bargaining agreement while it is looking into requests for the 16th company.
