The UK activities internet got excited this trip with information that Will Ferrell is the latest film star to bring his brand, and his pocket, to English football, per Deadline.
After falling in love with the British game, the Elf star’s purchase of a “large stake” in Leeds United Football Club was the first to appear in the Sun newspaper’s exclusive, and other UK media quickly followed the news.
While Leeds FC have refused to confirm Ferrell’s arrival in its boardroom, saying they never comment on individual stakeholders, The Sun reports that the comedic actor had paid the club’s U. S. owners 49ers Enterprises and that his involvement will be unveiled in a few days. The story quotes an insider confirming:” It’s true—Will Ferrell owns a share of Leeds. In the upcoming days, the 49ers will announce his involvement, and he’s anticipating a little stardust pouring onto the team.

He “loves soccer,” and his enthusiasm for the English game has been especially impressive.
Already a co- owner of MLS ‘ LAFC, Ferrell’s love of English football is well- documented. Last year, he frequently appeared at British stadiums, appearing unexpectedly on the Sky Sports channel from the ground at Manchester City.
He also received a visit from Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham, a club that Reynolds purchased with Rob McElhenney in 2020, and which has since gained more media attention thanks to a fly-on-the-wall documentary series and promotion to League Two, two below the Championship League, where Leeds is currently in third place. Later this month, Leeds hopes to advance to the Premier League through playoffs.
If Ferrell is confirmed as the most recent owner of Leeds, he will follow Russell Crowe, who made an initial investment in the club after revealing his family ties.
Other big names to have put their money into English football include rapper Stormzy, who invested in Croydon Athletic last year, Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan, who part- owns AFC Bournemouth, and LeBron James, who previously invested in Liverpool.
