The Series A funding square co-led by Dynasty Equity and Connect Ventures has come to an end for TMRW Sports. TMRW was founded in 2022 by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and past Golf Channel professional Mike McCarley, and its first task is the technical- driven team sport league, TGL, set to launch in January 2025.
According to a person with knowledge of the terms who was not authorized to comment in public, the funding round values TMRW Sports at close to$ 500 million. The first to release the money news and valuation was Bloomberg.
Jonathan Nelson and Don Cornwell co-founded Dynasty Equity to make sports-related investments, and they recently purchased a majority stake in Liverpool FC from Fenway Sports Group. As part of the TMRW purchase, Cornwell joins its board of directors as an observer.
Creative Artists Agency ( CAA ), a sports-related venture capital firm, and New Enterprise Associates form a partnership to invest in Connect. Investors with strong ties to the bank and sports business world joined Connect in TMRW Sports ‘ original fundraising campaign. Dick Ebersol, a long-time NBC Sports professional, former Goldman Sachs lover and former NFL executive, John Collins, former NHL COO, and John Daly, former chairman of Goldman Sachs ‘ global equity funds markets, were among them.
In November 2022, TMRW Sports announced a deeper squad of buyers including group owners Arthur Blank, David Blitzer and Fenway Sports Group, as well as sun sports Stephen Curry, Lewis Hamilton, Alex Morgan, Shohei Ohtani and Serena Williams, and players Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, Darius Rucker and Justin Timberlake.
To advance activities into the future, TMRW Sports was established. Four golfers will each play on a 3, 000-square-foot golf simulator screen until they are 50 feet from the hole, and the activity will move to a 22, 475-square-foot, customisable short game area that changes between holes. A shot clock is also included in TGL regulations, and the group intends to mic players while the game is taking place. Around the playing neighborhood, there is a seating arrangement of 1,500.
TGL was scheduled to begin play in January, but it was postponed until 2025 due to a power failure that caused the SoFi Center’s canopy to collapse. The pause was brought on by the necessary maintenance.
