Opendorse is closing a command section.
The NIL engineering firm announced Tuesday that it has hired Stephen Denton, a long-time tech executive, to serve as its fresh chief executive officer. He replaces Opendorse co-founder Blake Lawrence, the original University of Nebraska lineman, who has served as CEO and face of the company since its 2012 start.
As part of the change, Lawrence will move to the role of president of Opendorse’s undergraduate activities, while co-founder Adi Kunalic may continue to serve as chief operating officer.
” Most of what we are known for is the collegiate part of our company, but for our school and]NIL] social customers, little changes”, Lawrence told Sportico in a phone interview.

Denton was recently the CEO of Ware2Go, a UPS-owned virtual store. According to his LinkedIn profile, he left that status in March. Before then, Denton held leading work at auction, LinkShare and Rakuten, among abroad.
Following a six-month job search led by Correct, the executive search firm with a focus on technology, he was appointed to Opendorse. Lawrence claimed he had no previous experience with Denton before the search because his long resume was sporty and that he was not personally acquainted with him. But of greatest significance, Lawrence added, is Denton’s skills in scaling companies in the technology area.
” This change enables us to focus our efforts on certain corporate activities, ensuring that Opendorse remains at the forefront of our business”, Kunalic said in a statement.
According to Opendorse, the company’s app has facilitated over a quarter-billion money of NIL action involving more than 125, 000 school sports.
The organizational change on Opendorse’s top shelf comes at a turbulent time for school sports, when a few of the main NIL recovery companies attempt to stand out from the field’s young prospectors.
In November, Altius Sports Partners, the athletic office firm founded by Casey Schwab, was acquired by NewSpring Holdings-backed Underdog &amp, Company. A multiyear collaboration between ASP and OneTeam, which is centered on licence for college athletes groups, was announced earlier this year. Next month, Learfield, the multimedia rights large, announced that it would increase the use of its it-house NIL system, Compass—a walk that successfully reduced its present relationship with Opendorse.
