According to several people with access to the team’s finances who were not authorized to speak publicly, each of the 32 NFL teams received just over$ 400 million from the league office for the 2023 season. The tally is up 6 % to 8 % from the 2022 season, depending on the accounting used by the team.
The total represents national media rights, league sponsorships and shared revenue and royalties from the league’s various affiliates and subsidiaries, such as NFL Properties, NFL International and NFL Enterprises and adds up to roughly$ 13 billion.
Staff from the NFL made no comments.
The NFL’s economic type is the fear of every other major sports club, thanks to two key concepts. A somewhat stiff salary cap that forbids owners from purchasing NBA-like items that result in expensive tax penalties benefits the system. In 2023, the NFL salary cap was$ 224.8 million, with each team also on the hook for nine- images fair of participant benefits, facility costs and staff expenses,

The club guarantees a check every year that dwarfs the cover before a group sells a second solution, beer, sponsorship, or parking space, which is another big plus. Every NFL team is wildly profitable and worth at least$ 4 billion, with an average franchise value of$ 5.14 billion in the previous year.
The team’s media rights deals with ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC, Amazon and YouTube represent the bulk of the extremely shared profits. The most recent round of deals that are worth at least$ 125 billion over 11 years was announced last season.
In 2023, the NFL also had more than 30 group partners. Many of these companies have been companions for many years, including Gatorade, Visa, Campbell Soup and FedEx, while Oakley and Lowe’s both signed extensions to their deals next time.
With the media agreements secured, the national pay has increased by 115 % over the past ten years and should increase by the same amount over the coming decade to more than$ 800 million per team.
Teams receive an additional payment from the category for shared wall receipts, which require that 34 % of each team’s ticket sales be split evenly among the teams. It represents another$ 20 million- plus per group. Including the gate receipts, equally shared revenue represented 68 % of the$ 20 billion the 32 teams generated in 2023.
The Green Bay Packers release their annual report every time, which provides a window into NFL budget, including the figure for the nation’s profit, every year. However, teams ‘ income statements indicate different amounts of national revenue. Sportico spoke to four teams regarding their 2023 national revenue, and they had four different figures:$ 402 million,$ 404 million,$ 418 million and$ 425 million.
The timing of payments and expenses deductions affect the reported figure for each team. Teams that play preseason games on national TV or radio have another minor variance. As a way to replace lost local media revenue, those clubs receive a small bump. Teams have control over those media rights, and they can get paid to do it, but some fans will switch from the local to the national feed, which will affect the value of the game.
