The board upheld the platform of the EPL’s connected celebration transactions system despite receiving a positive ruling on two sponsorship deals.

Manchester City won off the field on Monday when an arbitration board decided in its favour that the Premier League improperly blocked two sponsorship deals because they were affiliated with Abu Dhabi United Group, Man City’s owner, and broke with APT rules.
In response to the EPL’s challenge of Man City sponsorship deals with First Abu Dhabi Bank ( FAB) and Etihad Aviation Group, the panel determined that some APT rules are in violation of U.K. competition law. The committee’s 175-page statement also said the Premier League had “unreasonable difficulties” in decision-making regarding funding partnerships with FAB and Emirates Palace.
The Premier League was “found to had abused its powerful place,” Man City claimed in a statement, and the regulations were “discriminatory in how they operate.”
However, the Premier League even defended its position after the decision because it upheld the fundamental principles of APT and fair market value. The APT guidelines ‘ legal justice had been challenged by Man City. After Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund purchased Newcastle in 2021, FMV fears increased in the Premier League. The EPL’s Financial Fair Play ( FFP ) rules say that the higher a team’s income, the more it can spend on players.
” The Premier League welcomes the Tribunal’s studies, which endorsed the entire goals, platform and decision-making of the APT system”, the Premier League said in a speech. The Tribunal upheld Manchester City’s demands and rejected the bulk of those that were made. Also, the Tribunal found that the Rules are necessary in order for the League’s economic settings to be effective”.
The 115 charges against Manchester City stem from the Monday decision, which is distinct from the other 115 against the Premier League for reportedly breaking the fiscal competition laws to gain a competitive advantage over foe clubs. That began last quarter, and a decision is never anticipated until 2025.
