According to Deion Sanders ‘ first as head coach, the University of Colorado made$ 31.2 million in revenue from sports ticket revenue during the 2023-24 time, according to the school’s income and financial disclosures filed to the NCAA this year.
That figure puts it closer to the top 10 among people FBS universities in FY23 for that income category. It more than doubled the Cattle ‘ football ticket revenue from the previous year, which amounted to$ 13 million. Colorado ranked 31st among people FBS organizations in 2022-23, according to Sportico’s college sports money collection.
Karl Dorrell was fired halfway through his third-lossy time by the Buff, and Sanders was appointed as his replacement. The evergreen Pac-12 excuse became a Rocky Mountain journey and national spectacle when Sanders was hired in December of 2022.
The Healers, after winning their second three games—and climbing to No. 19 in the AP poll—ultimately finished the year 4-8 after losing their final six games. But despite the on-field reduction, the Deion present remained a pick.
In addition to a jolt in ticket sales, the school also recognized a marked increase in the sale of football programs, novelties, parking and concessions, which cumulatively generated$ 2.9 million in FY24 as compared to$ 1.5 million the previous year.
At the same time, CU reported a year-over-year boost in its football-related operating costs from$ 35 million in FY23 to$ 38.5 million last year, this jump is primarily due to increases in manager and support personnel payment, along with severance obligations to former workers.
Sanders, who has now reportedly been contacted by the Dallas Cowboys about their head coaching job, led CU to a 9-4 record this year in the school’s return to the Big 12 Conference. Last month, Colorado lost to BYU in the Alamo Bowl. The coach would receive an$ 8 million buyout if he left early under his employment contract, which runs through January 2028.
( This post has been corrected to indicate CU earned$ 31.2 million in ticket revenue rather than$ 38.5 million. )
