On Sunday, Bryson DeChambeau won his second career U.S. Open by one strokes over Rory McIlroy. He’ll get home a big tournament document$ 4.3 million for his triumph.
DeChambeau won the U.S. Open the next time because there were no fans there, during the pandemic, when he walked to the 18th green and almost sat still. On Sunday, the audience roared for the fan favorite as he sank a birdie to keep sync and win the championship. He has 1.2 million Instagram followers.
Both DeChambeau and McIlroy had similar 10-to-1 odds to win before the first round, and they were neck-and-neck throughout Sunday’s up nine. They were both among the betting friends going into the tournament. McIlroy made no mistakes on his first 69 holes during his first, but he was unable to turn two of those mistakes in the final three holes, which reduced his lead.
DeChambeau hit his second photo into a vault after missing the putt on his pull on the 18th hole. DeChambeau triumphed over the audience for what appeared to be just the next big tournament playoffs in the previous seven years.
DeChambeau, who moved from the PGA Tour to the upstart LIV Golf journey in 2022, was not one of the 10 golf on Sportico’s list of the top 100 highest- paid athletes in 2023, but his performance next time generated$ 18 million in a 12- fortnight period.
