Alexis Ohanian is still making important economic contributions to the expansion of children’s activities.
The Reddit leader publicly announced that his Seven Seven Six venture capital firm may partner a new women’s single track occurrence, the 776 Invitational, during a fireside conversation with two-time Olympic track and field champion Gabby Thomas at the Business of Women’s Sports Conference in New York City.
The tournament, set to take place this September, aims to become the premier occasion for women’s trail by offering the largest- always purse for a women- even competition. Across all races, the winner will take home$ 60, 000, second place will earn$ 25, 000 and third place nets a$ 10, 000 purse.
The 776 Invitational has some interesting details, but it also has the potential to revolutionize how record is presented to the general public through a modified broadcast and in-person lover experience.

” At 776, we believe in the power of activities to pull positive change and encourage potential years”, Ohanian said in a statement. By funding women’s monitor,” we want to create a best-in-class event that raises the profile of leading women athletes and promotes an equal sporting environment.”
” I am excited to partner with ahead- thinking businesses like 776 that reveal our eyesight for advancing children’s track”, Thomas said. Through this investment, we hope to inspire fans around the world with a redesigned style to experience the best of our sports, as well as provide players with the tools and awareness they need to have persistent careers.
The tournament is derived from the absence of consideration for track and field beyond the four-year Summer Olympics. Thomas, who won bronze in the 200 feet and magic in the 4x100m switch at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, is concerned about this. Lately, the Austin, Texas- based runner spoke out against a new internet deal made with FloSports by the Wanda Diamond League, the international expert clothing for elite players. The Diamond League will leave Comcast’s Peacock after the 2024 season.
” I have nothing against FloSports, I love their journalism, but that we do n’t even know the logistics behind ( the deal )”, Thomas told Sportico in an interview published on April 19. ” We do n’t know why they chose to do that. However, what I do know is that track and field was significantly more popular at the time it was on Peacock.
The 776 Invitational was established as part of Ohanian’s second announcement this week that is related to women’s sports. Ohanian is the husband of tennis legend Serena Williams and the principal owner of NWSL team Angel City FC. On Monday, Ohanian’s 776 Foundation announced that it will invest in The Sports Bra, a renowned bar in Portland, Ore. dedicated to showing women’s sports on television, with the aim of expanding its brand across the country.
