Major League Desk Tennis announced on Tuesday that it would include two teams for the 2025 time, expanding from eight to ten leagues starting in September. The sites of the innovative teams have not yet been revealed by MLTT.
The growth is the league’s first significant program since it received$ 5.5 million in strategic investment in October, including a money flow from Harris Blitzer Sports &, Pleasure principal David Blitzer, and Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey.
” We believe that some leagues expand just because that’s their sole source of capital”, Flint Lane, the team’s leader and director, said in a movie meeting. They occasionally get caught up in this cycle of selling clubs just to finance operations because they do not have their device economics working really well. We made sure to have more of our league’s working elements, and we succeeded in doing that.
After its first year in 2022-23, Lane claimed that MLTT, the first professional league of its kind in the United States, was unable to have that base built. But YouTube popularity has spiked 537 % since then, the director added.
According to Lane and chief business officer Jordan Schlachter, the club is in talks with the media about getting a name on straight broadcast, which might bring it into line with more well-established stand tennis leagues around the world.
The new businesses ‘ clubs will operate under the same umbrella of the eight current groups, according to MLTT.
” We have the system down, and right then we’re finding that there’s demand in different places for these clubs”, said Schlachter. ” So we are able to provide the facilities for the operation of all groups, whether it be eight or ten, rather than wait a year or two, as you see with the WNBA and with the NWSL, where the teams have to create their own facilities.
” The fact that we, from an operations point of view, is out that be representing 10 teams instead of just eight, only makes us more beneficial to the prospective partners, distribution partners and sponsors.”
Eight teams from various U.S. markets are now playing in MLTT’s current eight-game weekends series of matches across the nation. A rotating group of four teams will also be competing against one another. The Florida Crocs, Princeton Revolution, Carolina Gold Rush and Chicago Wind play in the East Division, with the Texas Smash, Portland Paddlers, Seattle Spinners and Bay Area Blasters in the West Division.
Manu Ginobili, a former NBA star, is a member of the Florida Crocs rights group. Previous world No. The Princeton Revolution’s rights group includes the world’s top table tennis person Dima Ovtcharov.
