After spending the next five or more years as the CEO of Campbell’s, the renowned consumer goods company that recently forged a funding with the Officers and other companies affiliated with bulk user Josh Harris, the Washington Commanders appointed Mark Clouse as their new team leader.
Although Clouse does not have a background in sports business, it appears that Harris believes that his work experience may help the NFL franchise succeed.
In a speech, Harris said,” He has a demonstrated ability to enhance both the companies he leads and the areas he serves.” I have faith in Mark’s commitment to creating a championship-caliber business and supporting football operations in our pursuit of excellence on the industry.
After leaving the Army in 1996, Clouse began a three-decade career in the food sector, spending 20 years in various positions at Kraft Foods ( now Mondelez International ) and a few years as Pinnacle Foods CEO before Conagra purchased the business in 2018. In the first year of its leadership, Clouse led a transition in which the company looked to expand its appeal beyond its flagship sauce items.
For most pro sports companies, the team leader position has wide oversight over business activities while it’s the general director who deals with athletes, coaches, scouts and other athletic employees. In some situations, the president’s responsibilities can be combined with the GM, or one of the three hats that Jerry Jones wears for the Dallas Cowboys ‘ rival team.

Clouse will succeed Jason Wright, who resigned as president soon after Josh Harris bought the company in 2023. Wright took the helm in 2020 as the first Black team leader in the history of the NFL and the third former player to do so. He spearheaded the show’s transition from the Washington Football Team to the Leaders in 2022. By the end of the 2024 NFL season, Wright was now planning to leave the group.
One of Clouse’s final efforts as Campbell’s CEO was concluding a significant sponsorship deal with the team under the Harris Blitzer Sports &, Entertainment umbrella in an intriguing spin between his former and fresh companies.
In that deal, signed in October, Campbell’s items became aligned with the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils and their apartment area, the Prudential Center in Newark, and Joe Gibbs Racing. The Commanders, which HBSE and a separate class purchased in 2023, are also included in the agreement, with HBSE no owning any shares in the team.
Crouse joins the Commanders as the company looks into potential locations for a new facility, including a possible return to Washington, D.C. itself after playing in Northwest Stadium ( previously FedEx Field ) in the Maryland cities since 1996.
With the assistance of rookie player Jayden Daniels, who leads the Commanders in the playoffs with an 8-5 history, they have found new career on the field this year.
