Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily Mayfield, are suing a collection of companies that are linked to Mayfield’s father, James Mayfield, and brother, Matt Mayfield, which the QB and his wife contend unlawfully “funneled” more than$ 12 million of their money.
Last Friday, a Texas federal district court received the breach of contract issue. Arianna G. Goodman and Jonathon P. Reinisch of Vedder Price P. C. represent Baker and Emily Mayfield.
As depicted in the Mayfields ‘ complaint, Camwood Capital Management Group—of which James and Matt Mayfield are members —and related companies acted “without authorization, proper documentation, or adequate accounting of the transactions” when they moved millions of dollars from 2018 to 2021. The money supposedly came from Baker and Emily Mayfield’s individual accounts as well as from Team BRM LLC, the woman’s limited liability company.

The Mayfields claim that they received no ownership interest in exchange for the money while the plaintiffs claim to use it to pay payroll and cover other operating expenses. In truth, they claim they “received nothing” at all from the huge financial payments.
The plaintiffs have violated the settlement, according to the problem, which the events reached in January. According to the allegations, the arrangement calls for the plaintiffs to spend$ 11.7 million plus interest on a repayment schedule that was supposed to start on September 30. The plaintiffs ‘ refinancing is also envisioned in the settlement as a guarantee that the Mayfields would have access to invoice publications and other financial records. The Mayfields say the defendants have n’t paid, have n’t let them look and wo n’t return calls.
In any complaint, a problem merely tells one part of a tale. The defendants did have a chance to respond and record a dismissal activity. The plaintiffs may contest the facts-telling by Baker and Emily Mayfield. They might say the Mayfields received benefit in return for the money and that the Mayfields, never the accused, are in violation. It remains to be seen whether one side’s claims are supported by legal terminology, text messages, emails, or witness testimony. Court records of business problems frequently depict completely different characters, which may happen here.
Mayfield, 29, won the 2017 Heisman Trophy and was the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Texas native made his professional debut in 2023 with the Raiders after playing for the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Los Angeles Rams. In March, the Bucs signed Mayfield to a three-year,$ 100 million contract extension. Through 11 games in 2024, Mayfield has thrown for 2, 799 miles, with 24 touchdown catches against nine interceptions.
