Unrivaled has announced schedules for its annual time, but there’s one glaring mistake.
There’s no Caitlin Clark.
Fans were anticipating the team’s rosters ‘ inclusion in the highly anticipated unveiling of the players ‘ rosters, but they will have to wait as the new 3-on-3 women’s basketball league continues to negotiate with the WNBA Rookie of the Year.
The door is n’t closed. After revealing where 34 people will play when the group debuts on January 17th, Unrivaled revealed on Wednesday that it is leaving two wild-card spots available.
After choosing to increase the roster from 30 to 36 players across the six teams ( Laces, Lunar Owls, Mist, Rose, Phantom, and Vinyl ), league president Alex Bazzell previously stated that the league would keep a spot open for Clark. The original Iowa legend, who is currently improving her golfing prowess at the RSM Classic pro-am, has not yet made an announcement.
The Lunar Owls and Phantom’s two wild-card areas will not be filled, according to a schedule. The club has targeted Clark for additional high-profile expertise as well. The short list also includes Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, who has n’t announced if she will be participate in the Miami-based league.
Unrivaled did announce where Aces teammates Kelsey Plum ( Laces ) and Jackie Young ( Phantom ) will be playing this season. Breanna Stewart, the co-founder of the New York Liberty, and her company partner, co-founder Napheesa Collier, both enjoy for the Lunar Owls.
The announcement of the rosters comes just a week after the league announced its lineup of head coaches: Phil Handy ( Mist ), Teresa Weatherspoon ( Vinyl ), Nola Henry ( Rose ), Adam Harrington ( Phantom ), Andrew Wade ( Laces ) and DJ Sackmann ( Lunar Owls ).
On opening day, Stewart and Collier will square off against her former teammate Angel Reese and the Rose hockey league after they square off against one another in the WNBA Finals. The dual may become played on a stored court made for television by a Made-for-TV company in Miami, which was supported by hosting partner MediaPro North America. The manufacturing company and TNT Sports, a media companion, have a long-term spread contract that was signed earlier this fall.
Unrivaled has announced deals with Ticketmaster and State Farm, and plans to host a 1-on-1 tournament from Feb. 10-14 where the winner will receive a$ 250, 000 prize. Beginning on Thursday, the group will allow viewers to purchase tickets.
