The Women’s Lacrosse League, a fresh dynamic club with the best players in the world, has been introduced by the Premier Lacrosse League. Following February, the 2025 PLL Championship Series may host the WLL.
The new club did play field hockey, which is played at the NCAA level, using the Olympic Sixes format, which allows six people per team to play on smaller areas and in shorter time frames. The style was created with the intention of being included in upcoming Summer Olympic competitions, which was followed by the Los Angeles Games in 2028. Lacrosse of any kind will be a gold sport for the first time since 1908, for any reason.
” We’re happy to announce the launch of the Women’s Lacrosse League, a groundbreaking step forward for the sport, giving elite people sports a top stage to engage, motivate and make their mark as we move toward lacrosse’s arrival at the Olympics in 2028″, Paul Rabil, co-founder and PLL chairman, said in a statement.
Charlotte North, the NCAA’s second-all-time president in goals scored and who will serve as WLL’s adviser,” we strongly believe that this is the start of what will be a huge movement in the game of skilled women’s lacrosse and for female athletes around the world.” We are devoted to developing the game and inspiring the next generation of young women, while eventually competing for championships each year. It’s our day”.
North, who won the Eagles ‘ first NCAA tournament with Athletes Unlimited, starred at Duke before making her transition to Boston College. In 2028, the two-time Tewaaraton Award win for the best player in NCAA hockey is on track to join Team USA.
For several years, the PLL has made a significant investment in the development of women’s hockey. In 2020, the group created a program called Unleashed, which has helped more than 1, 000 women access instruction from some of the best players in the world, including North, Lizzie Colson, Dempsey Arsenault, Taylor Cummings and Alex Aust Holman. After three decades of global events, the PLL held its own museum in the U. S. —the Unleashed All-Star Game—back in February. The PLL also hosted some of the Launched All-Stars for the men’s All-Star event’s knowledge opposition in support of its effort to raise awareness of women’s soccer.
Whirlpool, a founding partner with PLL, will extend its partnership to the women’s league.
At a later time, the four teams, the home cities, and the rosters will be announced. After surviving for the majority of its existence on a tour-based model, the PLL recently finished its first season with geographically based teams. PLL investors include Joe Tsai, David Blitzer, Robert Kraft and Arctos Sports Partners.
