Haason Reddick, a cornerback for the New York Jets who was acquired by the Jets in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in April, has resigned from his contract holdout, according to ESPN and other media reports on Sunday.
The two-time Pro Bowler reportedly will receive the remainder of his 2024 base salary of$ 9 million. He can also meet recently negotiated incentives and earn an additional$ 12 million.
Reddick probably found a solution with the Jets by switching agents lately. Reddick and CAA parted techniques earlier this month, and Reddick made a long-term contract with Drew Rosenhaus.
Five days after New York acquired veteran wide receiver Davante Adams in a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, Reddick made his team’s first appearance.

Reddick’s circumstance highlights the dangerous nature of the holdover as a bargaining strategy. It aims to persuade a group to change the terms of a contract. The person anticipates that the team will be unable to change his output and that his worth will increase as the team’s absence grows longer. In a best-case scenario, the crew ultimately agrees to the person’s desire for a more lucrative deal.
However, the reverse effect might otherwise emerge. After all, the crew might find a willing substitute player for less money, which would diminish the team’s holdover player. The person might also face criticism from the fans and the media for refusing to turn in a document. And, given the short duration of most NFL careers, missing day during one’s maximum athletic decades is a bargain.
From a legal view point, by not performing an existing agreement, the hold person is in breach of contract. The person is content to forfeited activity checks and charges in accordance with collectively bargained rules. Reddick lost about$ 12.2 million by holding out.
NFL players ‘ holdouts have a mixed track record. Possibly the most notable instance in recent memory was in 2018, when Pittsburgh Steelers running up Le’Veon Bell missed the entire season and lost a$ 14 million franchise tag commitment as a result. Bell may not be able to recover that money. However, he agreed to a$ 52.5 million contract with the Jet that included more offers than the Steelers had previously offered. He regretted the way the Steelers position turned out next year.
Reddick, 30, joins a security that has 20 buckets this time, tied for third in the NFL. Defensive end Jermaine Johnson, who is out for the year after torn his Ankle in Week 2, will make up for his absence.
Reddick has 58 career sacks over seven times with the Eagles, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. The 2017 first-round draft choice has been one of the league’s most famous pass linemen over the past four times, recording 50.5 baskets over that period.
The Jets (2-4 ) play the Steelers ( 4-2 ) in Pittsburgh Sunday night, then travel to Foxborough, Mass., next Sunday to play the New England Patriots (1-6 ). Whether Reddick participates in that activity is yet to be seen.
