The WNBA finals match between the top-seeded New York Liberty and the defending hero Las Vegas Aces on Sunday afternoon attracted 929, 000 people on ABC. The Aces won their second consecutive name against the Liberty in the 2023 WNBA Finals, which had more people than all four of the other newscasts of the event.
Not to be outdone, the second semifinal game likewise performed well. The Connecticut Sun’s Game 1 get over the Minnesota Lynx pulled in 654, 000 people on ESPN.
The games on Sunday were significantly better than the final contests from the previous year’s exact windows. In 2023, Las Vegas ‘ win over the Dallas Wings garnered 182, 000 people in the first casino on ESPN2 and New York/Connecticut had 394, 000 on ESPN. Aces/Liberty Game 1 had more than five days the market of Aces/Wings in 2023, while Sun/Lynx had 65 % more people than the analytical hour glass.

Understandably, these numbers pale in comparison to the Sun’s first-round closeout of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on ESPN next Wednesday night. Including All-Star activities and the finals, 2.54 million individuals made Connecticut’s push match the 10th most-watched WNBA broadcast of all time.
If anything, Sunday’s matches were helped with the use of both spread and wires in 2024, and the pull of the biggest media market in the country. With a New York staff in the mix, ABC has much more reach than any cord route, including its ESPN sisters. Also, most prognosticators expected an Aces/Liberty Finals rematch at the start of the time, but having three Product winners ( A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones ) and many users of the gold-medal U. S. Olympic team in the quarterfinals could be a blessing in disguise after the Fever’s return.
Connecticut has grown a larger regional report by beginning and ending Clark’s traditional rookie season in front of large national followers, despite not the size of the Fever’s conflict with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. The Lynx are hoping a fresh dynasty will emerge under MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier as the Sun fights for its first WNBA name.
Even though Indiana’s Clark has been the focus of the ratings and popularity debate throughout the entire year, W viewership continues to rise despite her absence.
