Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson told reporters Wednesday he did n’t understand he was going to be sued Monday, but the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, said he reached out to Watson’s lawyers 10 times before to explain a possible arrangement.
The discrepancy between those timelines suggests either Watson or Buzbee is lying, or that, curiously, Watson has n’t been kept in the loop about pending lawsuits.

The plaintiff claims that Watson sexually assaulted her in her Harris County, Texas residence in October 2020 under the pseudonym Jane Doe. Watson and his guide attorney, Rusty Hardin, deny all of the complaints. On Wednesday, Harin said in a statement that he anticipated that his client would be proven guilty as the defendant’s allegations are examined through the legal procedure.
