According to Puck’s John Ourand, sports media legend Stephen A. Smith and his recent offer expire the following summers. Smith reportedly received a five-year offer fair$ 18 million per year from ESPN, which would make him one of the highest-paid performers on the network.
However, that might not be enough to close the deal. Smith reportedly wants a deal worth$ 25 million per year, per Ourand—that’s double Smith’s current reported annual payday, which includes an$ 8 million base salary and another$ 4 million from a separate production contract.
” There’s plenty of people who talk about the same topics that I talk about, but they do n’t have the same ratings”, Smith said back in March during Sportico’s Sports Track at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

At SXSW, Smith and Sportico co-founder and editor-in-chief Scott Soshnick sat over. Here’s what else he had to declare:
Smith, one of the most well-known sporting TV characters, started out at ESPN in 2003 before moving on five years later. He has since returned to the company in 2011 where he has been ever since. The 56-year-old now works as an analyst on NBA Countdown and serves as the executive developer on First Take.
