Hurley is coming down winning backwards- to- back federal names with the Huskies.

According to ESPN, UConn men’s baseball head coach Dan Hurley will not be leaving the group after the Los Angeles Lakers targeted him for their head coaching position.
After firing Darvin Ham in May, Hurley turned down a reportedly six-year,$ 70 million provide from the Lakers, who have not yet named a mentor. Hurley would have been one of the NBA’s six highest-paid mentors if the offer had been made. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is the NBA’s present highest- paid manager, making$ 17.5 million in 2024 after he signed a two- yr,$ 35 million expansion in February.
According to ESPN, the Lakers had tried to accredit Hurley by offering her a “massive long-term contract offer.” Hurley signed a$ 32 million contract last year that would keep him at UConn until March 2029. Before talks with the Lakers began this spring, the 51- year- old already had an offer from UConn to become one of the highest- paid NCAA coaches, and those talks will continue, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. After the Huskies won a second consecutive national championship, Hurley was named 2024 Naismith College Coach of the Year in April.

Hurley is scheduled to receive$ 500, 000 in retention bonuses on November 15 each year until 2028, according to the contract that became effective on April 20, 2023.
Had Hurley gone to the Lakers, he ( or the Lakers ) would have owed UConn$ 1.875 million in buyout money. If he had left for another college, that number would have increased to$ 7.9 million.
Hurley is currently aiming for his third straight national championship with the Huskies. Since John Wooden’s UCLA Bruins won seven consecutive games from 1967 to 1973, a three-peat championship has never been achieved in men’s Division I college basketball.
