Interest in women’s basketball is growing so fast, even the WNBA ca n’t keep up, according to a report in Deadline.
In their preseason opener against the Minnesota Lynx on Friday nights, the Chicago Sky faced off. Fans of women’s sports were particularly interested in the game because Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso made their club debuts.
Despite stating that all preseason games could be watched from the WNBA streaming game, the game was no broadcast.
That’s when a supporter, @heyheyitsalli, stepped in and began livestreaming the sport on their mobile phone while attending the game in Minneapolis. The video fast exploded past the 400, 000 opinions level.
Eventually, the WNBA made it clear that the app simply streamed Caitlin Clark’s debut film, Indiana Fever.
