Jessi Miley-Dyer may succeed Chris Johnson as World Surf League’s fresh inspector.

The World Surf League ( WSL ) has appointed Jessi Miley-Dyer as its new commissioner.
The former master surfing announced the news during Sportico and SheMedia’s” Winning: Women &, Sports” celebration on Thursday evening. After recently serving as the duel-gender club’s chief of sport, she hopes to continue pushing equity boundaries. In addition, Miller-Dyer will be the league’s first female commissioner.
” We were the first Northern British sports league to have equal prize money,” Miley- Dyer said.” This is a good thing for us.” ” As an ex- professional swimmer, that’s really crucial”.
The second WSL junior world champion, Miley- Dyer, spoke about the current wave of investment and the business case for both her league and women’s sports overall.
” Women’s activities are certainly not a charity”, she said. ” I believe for a while folks have perceived it that way, but we’ve also demonstrated that if the purchase is made, the results will come. Do n’t be here if you’re looking at them as a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ). That’s not what children’s sports are”.
Miley- Dyer’s treatment of” commander of activity” from her Instagram page late had surfing fans revving up the rumor mill about her whereabouts. The speculation can now be disproven, as the Sydney, Australia local becomes the first person to hold the title of WSL director since pro surfer Kieren Perrow resigned in 2019.
In response to a new media rights agreement with ESPN earlier this year, Miley-Dyer, who has held different titles since joining the WSL in 2012, also wants to use creative narrative and captivating articles to market the group. The package calls for ESPN+ to supply the men’s and women’s final journey events.
The announcement of Miley- Dyer’s visit comes as WSL goes through different management changes. Ryan Crosby, the previous publisher’s president of Riot Games, just assumed the role of league CEO in Erik Logan’s abrupt departure from the group last summer.
